Method Acting - A Genuine Resource to Develop and Strengthen your Acting
PROFESSIONAL ACTORS

"I first came to Sam's class because more and more in my acting, and therefore my life, I found myself anticipating and watching, more than participating, standing outside of myself and judging. Instead of being present and actually doing what I was doing! But through working with Sam I realized it is the other way round: I was standing outside of my life and therefore my acting was suffering. This class is not for the weak willed but neither is this industry. I found a renewed depth and respect for my ability and a sense of confidence in learning a technique and not leaving it all to chance."

Rosie Fellner
Casualty, Hollyoaks, The Line of Beauty, Mile High

"Sam didn't require me to go through an audition process in order to attend his class. His reason for this is, like most other things about him are patently clear. By attending his class you are expressing a desire for a process to enter into a more creative relationship, with your instrument, the character, the script; the craft of acting, but also with the industry as a whole. In my somewhat extensive experience of acting classes, I have found Sam to be one of the most insightful, committed, fearless, tireless passionate and thoroughly well informed teachers I have ever had the pleasure of working with. His class is oftentimes confronting, scary, frustrating, challenging, enlightening, and enlivening, but it is always insightful, always informative, and always, always inspiring."

Martin Crewes
Resident Evil, Heart Beat, Casualty

"Sam's class is a space where I am learning what work is and how rewarding it can be, a room where what you put in, you get out. This class has changed my view on acting, on life, of myself, and the things that are around me and effect me, I have a much better understanding of characters, knowledge of plays, how to rehearse, and that a play is organic, it has life,....Sam is a great teacher who enables those willing an opportunity to find ways to access the play, the character, the TRUTH! That can be so liberating, fulfilling and inspiring, knowing how far I have come in the last year, knowing that there is so much more to work on, and being in an environment where I feel safe, able to try things and to push myself way beyond comfort is exhilarating and the best thing is....... that this craft is there for us to work on and to share. I can't recommend Sam's class enough, as an actor I needed this room, as a person I thank him."

Lara Belmont
The War Zone, Lump, The Bill, Wild Decembers

"Sam offers a simplified insight to the art of acting. Your body is your instrument and your job is to portray the story of another human being. With this as the driving goal, Sam teaches us simple step by step tactics to uncovering different experiences that we can then apply to scenes to reveal a truly deep and complicated character, even in the simplest of situations. I've found his class to be a great help to truly find my characters and develop my acting."

Margo Stilly
9 Songs, Nathan Barley

"I came to Sam's class on a recommendation by a friend, after 6 years in the Industry working steadily. I had developed many bad habits I was unaware of and also had ceased to be totally present in my work. I began a process which I am glad to say has made me, willingly, look at my instrument, my approach to acting and the characters I audition to play, with a renewed sense of respect. I have since developed tools I had never used before, and opened up my instrument in a fundamentally new way. Sam's class is not for the faint-hearted and it is not an easy path, but through his and the Method's teachings, if you apply yourself, it can bring a fresh set of discoveries to the possibilities and choices in your work. You never stop learning in this craft and Sam's Class is an important space in which you can continually develop and return to take action in."

Neil Newbon
Holby City, The Bill, The Last Drop, Casualty

"I have been attending class for four years now, it has been many things including; scary, awakening, a slap in the face but above all inspirational. It has taught me to read scripts differently and approach characters humanely. Each class is a fresh experience enabling me to focus on what you have yet to learn - and that's what makes each class exciting and new. This class allows actors in this city to have a space where we can practice our craft, to which I am extremely grateful, as it has totally changed my career."

Houda Echouafri
Silent Witness, Green Wing, Hotel Babylon, Doctors

"Sam's classes have given me the abilities & confidence to discover exactly what I want from my career, helping me to discover myself. There is no wrong or right in acting and it is not an examination but a beautiful craft; which is mine to shape and there for the taking. Finally I can see where all my hard work is going, reaping the benefits in the industry has blown me away. Thanks Sam."

"Sam's class helped me in the way I work as a photographer, these tools and skills have helped me communicate to my subjects and hopefully reveal truth and clarity about each person. I often call the people I photograph 'characters' and the project I'm doing at the moment in New York, feels like I'm casting a play."

NEW ACTORS

"I attended Sam's class for the first time four years ago. When I started my acting was rigid, one-dimensional and unimaginative. Through the class I have learnt to approach characters and acting in a far deeper and dynamic fashion. I have been working in the industry for two years now and I regularly find myself applying the invaluable techniques learnt in the classes. I recommend this class to any actor who takes acting seriously."

John Nayagam
Doctors, Emmerdale

"I first attended Sam's class in 2007 and sat pretty much silent being in a space full of people openly voicing their passion and desire for a Craft I knew nothing about, other than a vague yet determined desire to explore. After two and half years of consistently attending, I owe this class a large debt of gratitude. It has confirmed for me the desire was worth further exploration. What Sam teaches, and offers up, is a methodology from which to shape a strong foundation in order to create a methodology that is yours. Sam offers up the space for you to develop your craft. Being in class is enriching, revealing, inspirational, and challenging and I'm very grateful that it exists."

Daniel Summerford

"Two years ago when I first stepped into the room to attend Sam's class, I had limited experience & misguided ideas regarding what I thought acting was. I found it extremely difficult not to attempt to shape my actions into my preconceived idea of what I felt was right. Thus I found work a sometimes unpleasant struggle, always being extremely self conscious & my work always ended up being one dimensional.

Through Sam's facilitation, I am now discovering that through craft, willingness, and endeavour, you can really shape your work and indeed every living moment. Grasping the opportunity to engage in work is now incredibly inspirational, with my desire to really honour the characters the writer took the time to put down on paper.

I will undoubtedly continue to work with Sam, as his ability to shake life into those willing to go beyond the comfortable is in itself inspirational & this - coupled with his understanding of the creative process - has changed my entire relationship with acting & myself. The flexibility of my instrument is a world apart from where it was when I entered Sam's class. I could not recommend Sam's expertise as a practitioner enough for anyone who wants to evolve real craft, build an invaluable tool chest, and discover true creativity within your work."

Darryl Neville

"Being a working model who was fairly new in this country, and with almost no previous acting experience, I am really grateful that I found Sam's class. So far I have attended three main classes and I must say that it has been quite a journey. The first class was exciting: getting to know different tools, trying to "act" for the first time, and all his inspiring new words and ideas. The second class revealed what hard work acting really is, how challenging it is for me to live truthfully in my own life, yet alone in imaginary given circumstances on the stage! Now, after my third class, I am slowly gaining not only skills and necessary knowledge, but also confidence and determination that this type of acting is what I want to actualize. So I am definitely coming back for more!"

3 DAY CLASS

I found the 3 days extremely interesting. I feel the entire programme was very well designed to provide the full overview of the method technique. There were many new concepts to learn and it gave me a chance to pause, to internalise, and to understand the power of the internal force within and how this force can be utilised in the art & craft of acting and in day to day life as well. Also, I got a feel of the difference in playing a character and in living it to enjoy the art.

It was a wonderful experience working with both Lizze and Emma. These sessions added a lot of value in a very light and relaxed way. It also gave me opportunity to relate to each other in the group, thus enhancing my performances in the subsequent sessions. I think both sessions were very important and they made me realise how important vocal & movement areas are and how it can help me to add lot of quality to my work.

In all it has been a wonderful experience and I feel that every hour I spent in the training for these three days was well worth the investment.

Jay Dua

I found the 3 days to be invigorating, refreshing, and definitely challenging on a physical level, but I surprised myself as I am not as unable as I perceived. I was served with a reminder and confirmation that I do have the ability to portray human feelings and emotions within my acting in a believable way.

I recommend this 3 day introduction to anyone who wants to know more about themselves and their capabilities. Sam's explanation and interpretation of that journey allows for all individual to tap into or become aware that there is more growing and developing that one has to do. I defy anyone to say that this taster does not evolve you to another level of self awareness. If you choose to "act" upon it, is entirely up to you, but you will know something just happened. Fabulous!

Many thanks

Loretta Mai

I had no idea how profound the experience was going to be - it totally blew me away but also gave me a new found confidence to let go and just push through the normal habit of shying away from something that's new and perhaps hard.

I know I found myself more connected with my body and thoughts/emotions - more so on the scene day. As Lizzie and Emma unlocked the body and voice in me, I found what I could do and perhaps what I need to work on. Also it was fun - the exercises, sounds, working as a team - it made us connect much more as a team of people which is paramount to acting as inevitably there is always going to be another that we have to simulate a connection with.

The 3 days not only showed me that I do want to explore further the world of acting but also that I have the tools inside me to be an actor. It's indescribable how much I gained from this course, I thoroughly enjoyed working with the group as well as Sam, Lizzie and Emma and recommend this to anyone who is thinking about taking Method and acting seriously. It's a great starting point and a priceless experience that I hope to take with me now as I move to explore further opportunities.

"This class exceeded expectations which were already high! I have taken acting lessons before, but none compare to this in terms of the level of depth, despite being a 3-day programme. Sam is extremely clear in his demonstrations and directions. He will not shy away from making students understand any observations or advice he may have, which makes everyone feel very engaged and individually considered.

Both sessions with Lizzy and Emma, I found extremely useful and the time slots dedicated to both were very well and efficiently deployed. Both are very clear when explaining their subjects. I particularly found Emma's session such an eye-opener, as I have constantly struggled to control my voice. I felt I learned essential techniques that I will use throughout my career.

The structure and sequence of the programme are very balanced and efficient. I can see it as of great value to any actor wanting to understand or reacquaint him/herself with the method. I am very pleased I signed up for this class."

Hannibal Latuff

"The three days were absolutely exhausting...but in a good way. It was a complete learning curve and I felt by Sunday I'd been made aware of aspects of acting I never knew or thought were relevant to becoming a better actor. I really did love hearing and studying all the theory behind it, as well as technique and performing the practical scene at the end. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I got so much out of the intensive weekend classes.

Although I'm aware that 3 days merely skims the surface of Method, Voice and Movement, I felt as though I'm already beginning to become a better actor for having attended. I look forward to doing some more in depth classes in the future. Thanks so much Sam, you truly are a great teacher and I look forward to taking some more of your classes soon."

COACHING

I worked with Sam on a recent audition tape for a LA casting and he was extremely helpful - both in helping me go through the script and getting me to access my best for the audition. He was clear, concise and insightful, both through the analysis and the actual audition recording. In short, he basically helped me to perform at my best within all facets of the audition. I know that the final tape, which I sent, got good feedback and which I was very happy with, was a direct result of working with Sam.

Tom Oakley

When I first showed Sam my speeches, I was overwhelmed and defaulted to forced or wooden acting. I held onto every impulse and was unable to let go of tension. Over a few hour long meetings, Sam didn't show me on how to play the roles, but how to bring myself to the roles - trusting myself to explore the unknown and to take a risk. With Sam's guidance I was able to find my voice. teaching me new ways of engaging with the text and the importance of slowing down. I walked into the audition confident and more able to relate to the given circumstances. The best advice was to "invest in every moment, enjoy the risk and trust each impulse".

What awesome classes that I had! I really loved your teaching Sam. When I started lessons with youm I already knew that this is worth enough to come to London. I learned a myriad of acting fundamentals. I guess from now on, I can enjoy my performances and I will relive those lessons again and again. Acting was one of the biggest fears, but now I have learned a method of true acting, of which I had always dreamed of. I hope I can thank you with my work soon - and I really hope I can see you again maybe next year...
